In short
This website sets no cookies at all unless you agree to it. We count visitors using a service that stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it, and that needs no permission. Two other things do set cookies, and both stay switched off until you choose otherwise: Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people read, and the measurement for the adverts we run on Google, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. They are separate choices, so you can agree to one and refuse the other. Rejecting is one click, exactly like accepting, and you can change your mind at any time from Cookie preferences in the footer. Two small items are stored in your own browser to make features you asked for work.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files or pieces of information stored on or accessed from your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, tags and software development kit technologies that perform related functions.
Cookies can help a website operate, remember choices, maintain security, understand how people use the site and, where applicable, support analytics or marketing.
2. Who uses cookies on the Rolle website?
Rolle Solutions Ltd operates paybyrolle.com. Some cookies may be set directly by Rolle and others may be set by third-party services that we use to provide particular website functions.
Where third-party services set or access cookies, those providers may also process information under their own privacy policies.
3. The types of cookies we may use in future
The categories below describe how we treat each kind of cookie. Section 4 sets out which of them is actually in use today, and which is described here because it is coming rather than because it is here.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for functions that you request or for the website to operate securely and reliably. They may be used for purposes such as session management, security, load balancing, authentication, fraud prevention and remembering your cookie choices.
Where a cookie is strictly necessary for a service you request, consent is not required. We still provide information about these cookies.
Analytics and performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited, how people move through the site and whether technical errors occur.
Where these technologies are not strictly necessary, we ask for your consent before using them. Google Analytics falls into this category, and it does not run until you have agreed to it. The separate visitor counting we also use does not fall into this category at all, because it sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device: section 4 describes both.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies can remember choices that make the website easier to use, such as interface preferences or optional features.
Where functional cookies are not strictly necessary for a service you request, we will ask for consent where required.
Marketing and advertising cookies
Rolle advertises on Google, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, and uses campaign measurement from those platforms to see which adverts work. Those technologies measure people across websites and services. We treat them as non-essential, and we ask for your consent before any of them runs. Section 4 names them and the cookies they set.
We do not rely on simply continuing to browse the website as consent to non-essential cookies.
4. What is in use today
Nothing non-essential until you say so. As at the date at the top of this page the website sets no cookie of any kind, from us or from anyone else, unless you have agreed to analytics or to advertising measurement. There is no tag manager. Our web fonts are served from our own website rather than from a third-party font service, and the social media icons in the footer are ordinary links, so visiting a page sends no request to those networks.
Four things are described below: the visitor counting that needs no permission, the Google Analytics measurement that does, the advertising measurement that does, and the two items your browser stores so that features you asked for work.
Counting visitors, without storing anything on your device. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how quickly those pages load. It is neither a cookie nor a tracking technology. It sets no cookie, and it does not store or read anything in your browser's local storage, session storage or IndexedDB. What it measures comes from timings your browser has already recorded for the page in front of you, it describes that single page view, and it is gone when you reload or move on. It does not follow you between websites, and the part of a web address after a question mark is not recorded.
Because it stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it, the consent rules in regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations do not apply to it. That is not one of the exceptions in Schedule A1 to those Regulations: it is outside the regulation altogether. So we do not ask for your consent to it, and there is nothing here for you to switch off.
We would rather be straight with you than repeat a claim we cannot stand behind, so: this is not anonymous in every sense of the word. Your IP address reaches Cloudflare in the course of any ordinary web request, and Cloudflare states that it discards that address at the data centre nearest to you and does not keep it in its databases or logs. We never see it, we cannot identify you from what we do receive, and what reaches us is counts rather than a record of your visit. We rely on our legitimate interests in knowing whether the website works, which our Privacy Policy explains.
Google Analytics, only if you agree to it. The counting described above tells us how many people arrive and how quickly pages load. It does not tell us which page someone read before they gave up, or whether a visit that started on the Business page ended on the Early Access form. For that we use Google Analytics 4. It sets cookies, it is not strictly necessary, and so it does not run until you have chosen Accept all or ticked Analytics in the cookie panel.
Until you do, the Google tag is not on the page. Nothing is requested from Google and no cookie of theirs exists on your device. The tag is created at the moment you agree rather than loaded in advance and held back, which is the difference between a tag that is waiting and a tag that is not there. If you choose Reject all, that stays true, and we will not ask you again for six months.
If you do agree, TikTok's measurement also reaches it by a second route. As well as the TikTok Pixel in your browser, our own server tells TikTok when the Early Access page was viewed or one of our forms was completed. That message carries the address of the page, the time, your IP address and browser type, and TikTok's own identifiers: the _ttp cookie below and, if you arrived from one of our TikTok adverts, the click reference from that advert. It is the same information the Pixel already sends, sent twice so that TikTok counts it reliably and counts it once. It never includes your name, your email address or anything you typed into a form. Our server checks your choice before it sends anything, so if you have not agreed, or have withdrawn, it sends TikTok nothing.
If you do agree, these are set:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Tells one visitor apart from another, so a return visit is not counted twice | 2 years | |
_ga_0JMN6EGWTG |
Keeps the state of your current visit for Google Analytics | 2 years |
We have deliberately left switched off the parts of Google Analytics that would turn this into advertising. Google signals, which joins a visit to a signed-in Google account and produces demographics from it, is off. So is user-provided data collection. We have not linked this to a Google Ads account. What we receive is how the website is used, not a description of you, and none of it is used to target advertising at you. If that ever changes, it needs your advertising consent rather than your analytics consent, and this page will say so before it happens.
Google states that it does not log or store your IP address in Google Analytics 4: the address reaches Google in the course of the request, is used to work out an approximate location, and is then discarded. We never see it. We have set Google to delete the underlying records after 14 months rather than keeping them indefinitely.
Google provides this service on our instructions under its data processing terms, rather than deciding for itself what to do with what it receives. That is a different arrangement from the one described below for advertising, and it is the reason this sits in its own category in the panel. Google is still a United States company and information may be handled outside the United Kingdom, which our Privacy Policy covers under international transfers. Google's own description of how Analytics uses data is here.
You can withdraw this at any time from Cookie preferences in the footer. When you do, we tell Google's tag that consent has been withdrawn and we delete both cookies above from your device. What Google already received is beyond our reach.
Advertising measurement, only if you agree to it. We advertise Rolle on Google, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. To know which of those adverts are worth paying for, rather than guessing, we use Google Ads conversion tracking, the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel. All three are non-essential, all three set cookies, and all three involve measurement across other websites, so none runs until you have chosen Accept all or ticked Advertising in the cookie panel.
Until you do, their code is not on the page. It is not loaded and then blocked, and not loaded and told to wait: nothing at all is requested from Google, Meta or TikTok, and no cookie of theirs exists on your device. If you choose Reject all, that stays true, and we will not ask you again for six months.
If you do agree, these are set:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au |
Identifies your browser to Google Ads, so a visit that followed one of our adverts on Google can be credited to it | Up to 3 months | |
_fbp |
Meta | Identifies your browser to Meta, so a visit that followed one of our adverts can be credited to it | Up to 3 months |
_fbc |
Meta | Stores the click identifier from the advert you arrived through, so the advert can be matched to what you did next | Up to 3 months |
_ttp |
TikTok | Identifies your browser to TikTok, so a visit that followed one of our adverts there can be credited to it | Up to 13 months |
_tt_enable_cookie |
TikTok | Records that TikTok measurement is switched on for your browser | Up to 13 months |
ttcsid, ttcsid_<id> |
TikTok | Keeps the state of your current visit for TikTok | Up to 13 months |
The periods above are the longest each cookie can last. Browsers often cut them much shorter of their own accord, and the clock restarts if you come back, which is why these say "up to" rather than a flat figure.
Meta and TikTok decide for themselves what they do with what they receive. They are not simply acting on our instructions, so for that information they are responsible in their own right alongside us, and they may use it for their own purposes under their own policies: Meta's Cookies Policy and TikTok's Cookies Policy. Both are United States companies, so agreeing to this means information about your visit leaves the United Kingdom. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle international transfers.
Google receives Google Ads conversion information under its own advertising terms, which are different from the processing terms that cover Google Analytics above. Google's own description of how it uses advertising data is here. Google is also a United States company, so the same applies to transfers.
You can withdraw this at any time from Cookie preferences in the footer. When you do, we stop Google Ads conversion tracking and both pixels and delete every cookie in the table above from your device. What Google, Meta or TikTok already received is beyond our reach, and the policies linked above are where their own controls live.
Two items stored on your device. Both are set by Rolle, are strictly necessary for a feature you have asked for, and are never used to track you or shared with anyone:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
rolle:ea-dismissed |
Local storage | Remembers that you closed the Early Access card, so it does not reappear on every page | When you clear site data for this website |
rolle.entry.v2 |
Session storage | Holds your answers and your place in the Early Access form, so a reload does not lose your progress | When you close the browser tab |
Neither is a cookie, and neither is sent to our servers automatically. They stay in your browser.
Both fall within the exception for maintaining a record of selections made on a website, or information put into a website, at paragraph 4(2)(e)(ii) of Schedule A1 to the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. That means we do not need your consent to store them, and we do not ask for it.
When you submit a form. The contact forms and the Early Access form send what you typed to a Google service that we use to receive submissions, acting on our instructions. That happens only when you choose to submit, and what we do with the information afterwards is described in our Privacy Policy.
Because the website is in active development, we will update this section if the technologies in use change, and we will update the date at the top of the page when we do.
5. Your cookie choices
The Google Analytics and the advertising measurement in section 4 are the two things on this website that need your permission, and you control both. Here is how that works:
- A notice appears the first time you visit, offering Accept all and Reject all side by side, plus a Preferences option for choosing group by group. Refusing is one click, exactly like accepting. We will not make you go through a settings panel to say no.
- Nothing non-essential is set until you choose. Refusing means it is never set, rather than set and then deleted, and closing the notice without choosing is not a yes.
- Your choice is remembered for six months in a cookie named
rolle.consent.v1, which is itself strictly necessary and holds nothing but the choice you made and the date you made it. After six months we ask again, whichever way you answered. - Cookie preferences in the footer reopens the panel at any time, so you can change your mind or withdraw as easily as you agreed. Withdrawing also deletes the cookies already placed under the consent you are withdrawing.
- The categories are separate. You can accept one and refuse the other.
We ask before using anything non-essential rather than treating continued browsing as consent, and we update this policy whenever what we use changes.
Rejecting non-essential technologies will never prevent you from reading the public content of this website, and it does not affect the visitor counting in section 4, which needs no consent and which we keep whatever you choose. That is deliberate: we would rather refusing cost you nothing and cost us nothing, so that it is a real choice.
6. Browser controls
Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies and other site data through their own settings. Those controls operate independently of this website and may affect other websites as well.
Clearing or blocking site data for this website will remove everything described in section 4, including your cookie choice. Nothing will break, but you will be asked about cookies again, the Early Access card may reappear and an Early Access form you had partly completed will start again.
7. How cookie information relates to personal data
Some cookie or device information may be personal information, particularly where it can be linked to an identifier, account, device or individual.
Where this happens, our Privacy Policy also applies and explains how we use and protect personal information, the legal bases we rely on and the rights available to you.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the website or the technologies we use change. The current version will be published at paybyrolle.com/cookies and the date at the top will be updated.
9. Contact
